Diplomats Fall in Season Opener

ELIZABETHTOWN, Pa. – Paige Tanner recorded 16 kills to lead Elizabethtown to a 3-2 (25-19, 14-25, 29-27, 25-13, 15-9) win over Franklin & Marshall in non-conference volleyball action Wednesday night.
The Blue Jays (0-1) jumped out to an early 1-0 lead in the season opener for both teams. F&M answered back with a 25-14 second game victory. Elizabethtown returned the favor winning back-to-backs games securing the win.  In addition to Tanner, Kayla Deats also turned in a strong performance with 11 kills and one ace.
The Diplomats’ Nicole Marano recorded team-high 15 aces and nine blocks, while Candice Tussing posted 12 kills, five aces and eight digs.
Pam Horner recorded a match-best 35 assists and added seven blocks. Katy May turned in a solid 12 digs on the night.
The Diplomats return to action Friday when they travel to Moravian for a round-robin tournament.
