LANCASTER, Pa. – Franklin & Marshall's women's track and field team will host the Diplomat Open to start their indoor season on Saturday. The Diplomats come off another strong year, finishing fourth in the Centennial Conference (CC) Indoor Championships and sixth in the CC Outdoor Championships last year.

After losing only two seniors, the Diplomats boast a strong core of returning athletes that performed well during the winter and spring, and have added a group of newcomers expected to have an immediate impact.
Athletes to Watch
Alyssa Ward – Sr.

Aleksandra Kiszka – Sr.
Sabrina Piccinini – So.
Ward tallied three medals in the jumps during the CC Indoor Championships last winter, taking gold in the triple jump, silver in the high jump, and bronze in the long jump. She accounted for three individual gold medals at the CC Outdoor Championships, sweeping the jumping events, in addition to running the anchor leg for the 4x100-meter relay, to total four golds on the weekend
Wylie burst onto the scene during the winter season, taking second in the 400-meter dash at the conference championships and added a pair of silver medals in the 4x200- and 4x400-meter relays. In the spring, Wylie maintained her momentum by taking gold in the 400-meter hurdles, breaking a school record and securing a spot at the NCAA Championships.
Kiszka (fifth in the 60-meter hurdles) and Muccio (sixth in the 400 in winter and second in the spring) also tallied strong individual performances at the conference championships, as well as filling two slots in both the 4x200 and 4x400.
The Road Ahead
F&M opens its winter season hosting back-to-back invites with the Diplomat Open on Saturday, Dec. 2 and the Coach I Open on Saturday, Jan. 13.
The Diplomats are on the road through February, culminating in CC Indoor Championships hosted by Ursinus on Feb. 24-25. NCAA Indoor Championships are slated for March 9-10 in Birmingham, Ala.
F&M has a quick turnaround for its outdoor season, starting on Saturday, March 17 at Mary Washington for an invite. The Diplomats remain on the road for the outdoor season with CC Outdoor Championships taking place May 4-6 at Ursinus. NCAA Outdoor Championships are scheduled for May 24-26 in La Crosse, Wisc.
