FREDERICKSBURG, Va. – Seven event victories and several other top performances led Franklin and Marshall women's track and field to a strong showing on Saturday at the Mary Washington Opener. The event did not feature team scoring.
-Three of those event victories came from Alyssa Ward's dominance in the jumps. She soared to victory in the triple jump (11.35 meters, 37'-3"), high jump (1.60 meters, 5'-3"), and long jump (5.01 meters, 16'-5.25") on the day. Sabrina Piccinini took third in the long jump at 4.67 meters (15'-4").
-Rachel Wylie tallied two wins herself, beginning in the 100-meter hurdles, as her time of 15.64 was good for first place. Aleksandra Kiszka took second in 16.74. Wylie (1:06.06) and Kiszka (1:08.72) filled the top two spots again in the 400-meter hurdles, as Kaitlin Muccio completed the sweep in third place with a time of 1:09.14.
-Kiszka, Muccio, and Wylie joined Chelsea Frantz in the 4x400-meter relay, cruising to first place with a time of 4:13.52.
-Abby Grehlinger rounded out the F&M gold rush in the 3,000-meter steeplechase, taking first with a time of 12:39.75.
-Frantz took individual bronze in the 400 meters, finishing in 1:03.02.
-Grace Adams clocked a time of 5:12.96 to lead F&M and take third in the 1,500 meters.
-Meredith Malcolm's time of 2:37.03 was good for fifth place in the 800 meters.
The Diplomats return to action on Saturday, hosting Gettysburg and Dickinson for the Little Three Meet.
