MILLERSVILLE, Pa. - Franklin & Marshall's Erin Gleason broke her own shot put record with a hurl of 40' 6.75" inches at the Millersville Metric on Friday. The new record stood for all of about a half-a-minute until Alyssa Catalano recorded a toss 3.5 inches longer. The record breaking pair finished one-two in the event to lead the Diplomats charge at the Marauders' event.
The victory in the shot accounted for half of Catalano's wins. She bested the field by nearly six feet in the hammer with a throw of 153'-2". Shippensburg's Stephanie Harrison took second with a 147'-6" throw.
Gleason went on to take second in the discus with a 115'-6", 16 inches off of the championship mark of 116'-10" established by Jenn Szarzynski of Shippensburg. She placed fourth in the javelin.
Catherine Westerduin took third in the high jump with a 4'-9". Ship's Jessica Yates cleared at 5'-1" for the winning height.
On the track, F&M's Alexandra Harrington ran a 2:46.82 for third place in the 800-meter. Jenna Bush clocked a 5:13.40 for fourth place in the 1,500-meter, and Kelly Farrelly took third in the 5k with a 19:25.14.
