LANCASTER, Pa. – Franklin & Marshall's Nicole Russo was named the Centennial Conference (CC) Player of the Week for women's tennis, announced by the league office on Monday. The honor marked the fourth time in the previous five weeks a Diplomat garnered the honor and was the second of Russo's career.
Russo (Livingston, N.J. / Livingston) compiled a pair of dominant singles performances last week, competing at the No. 2 spot in F&M's lineup. She opened with a 6-0, 6-2 victory against Gettysburg on Wednesday and followed with another straight-set win (6-0, 6-1) over Bryn Mawr on Saturday. Russo has won nine of her previous 10 singles contests and is 11-4 overall.
In doubles competition, Russo teamed with Allison Wolters at No. 1 for a 2-0 week, outscoring their opponents by a 16-5 score. The duo has registered nine-consecutive victories and is a perfect 7-0 in CC play.
