LANCASTER, Pa. - Franklin & Marshall rolled to convincing victories at every spot in the lineup in a 9-0 defeat over visiting McDaniel on Tuesday in Centennial Conference (CC) women's tennis action at Brooks Tennis Center. The Diplomats (4-6, 2-3 CC) snap a four-match losing skid with the win, while the Green Terror (2-10, 0-3 CC) remain winless in conference play.
The Diplomats jumped out to a 3-0 lead with impressive wins at each of the three doubles spots. Anya Sahaydachny and Megan FitzMaurice combined for an 8-2 triumph over Kiersten Patron and Chelsea Barnett at No. 1, Dana Sleeper and Meredith Lackey defeated Laura Pollar and Sophie White 8-1 at No. 2, and the No. 3 duo of Julia Fiala and Emily Gruenberg tallied an 8-2 victory over Danielle Cloney and Angela Johnson.
In singles, F&M cruised to straight-set wins at all six positions. Fiala blanked Barnett 6-0, 6-0 at No. 2, while Sleeper and Gruenberg notched 6-1, 6-1 victories at No. 3 and No. 4 over Pollard and Cloney, respectively.
Lackey downed White by a 6-2, 6-1 count at No. 5, and Naomi Smith earned a 6-3, 6-0 triumph at the No. 6 spot against Lauren Lewis. FitzMaurice topped Patron at the top of the lineup 6-4, 6-0.
The Diplomats are back in action on Friday with a non-conference matchup at home against Lebanon Valley at 4:30 p.m.
