Diplomats Blank Penn State Berks

LANCASTER, Pa. - Franklin & Marshall romped past visiting Penn State Berks 9-0 in non-conference women's tennis action on a chilly Wednesday afternoon at the Brooks Tennis Center. The Diplomats move to 3-2 with the triumph, while the Nittany Lions fall to 3-3.

The Diplomats dominated both singles and doubles play, dropping just six games throughout the six singles spots and surrendering only four games in doubles competition.

Dana Sleeper (No. 3) and Julia Fiala (No. 4) both earned shutout 6-0, 6-0 singles decisions, while Emily Gruenberg (No. 5) and Meredith Lackey (No. 6) each lost only one game in 6-1, 6-0 victories.

Anya Sahaydachny (No. 1) and Megan FitzMaurice (No. 2) each claimed 6-1, 6-1 triumphs at the top of the singles lineup.

In doubles, the duos of Sleeper and Lackey (No. 2) and Fiala and Gruenberg (No. 3) posted 8-0 wins, while Sahaydachny and FitzMaurice teamed up for an 8-4 triumph at No. 1.

Gabrielle Viscounte, Naomi Smith, and Kyra Forte also tallied singles victories in exhibition play.

The Diplomats return to the court on Saturday as they host Centennial Conference (CC) foe Washington College at 12:00 p.m.
