Bears Take Down Diplomats

LANCASTER, Pa. - Kelsey Tylus picked up Franklin & Marshall's lone singles win and partnered with Erica Wood to deliver a victory in doubles competition, but the Diplomats fell 6-3 to Ursinus in Centennial Conference (CC) tennis action on Monday. F&M fell to 1-7 (1-2 CC), while Ursinus climbed to 6-3 (2-1 CC).

Playing in the second position, Tylus (5-3, 2-1 CC) blanked Julia Kurtz in the first set and fended the Bear off in the second set 6-4. Tylus and Wood (2-2, 1-1 CC) combined for a 9-7 win over Jenna Hope and Christina Lippe at first doubles. Hope returned the favor to Wood (3-9, 1-2 CC) at first singles, with a 6-4, 7-6 win.

Valeri Harteg and Dana Russo (3-2, 2-1 CC) squeezed out a 9-8 win at second doubles.

The Diplomats return to action on Saturday at Washington College. Match time is set for noon.
