Diplomats Take Second at F&M Invitational

LANCASTER, Pa. – Franklin & Marshall's women's swimming team earned a second-place finish at the F&M Invitational, accumulating 765 points over the course of three days. Washington & Lee placed first in the event with 1,024 points.

In the first event of the evening, the 500-yard freestyle, Katherine Grant earned a second-place finish with a time of 5:08.36. Alexia Tomlinson (5:15.39) and Leeza Rojas (5:23.13) finished fourth and sixth, respectively. In the following race, the 200-yard backstroke, Taylor Mateja placed fifth at 2:16.44.

Rebecca Daen placed third in the 100-yard freestyle with a time of 54.01, while teammate Jillian Albus finished fifth at 54.26. In the 200-yard butterfly, Maggie Johns placed fourth with a time of 2:15.41.

In the 200-yard individual medley, Courtney Collins finished fifth and clocked in at 2:18.20, while Caitlyn Fuller followed in sixth with a time of 2.18.73.

To wrap up the invitational, a team of Daen, Grant, Rojas, and Albus swam to a second-place finish in the 400-yard freestyle relay with a time of 3:38.19. 

The Diplomats return to the pool on Dec. 7 when F&M takes on Widener in non-conference action. The meet is set to begin at 1:00 p.m.
