LANCASTER, Pa. – Franklin & Marshall's women's swimming team won six of 10 events and defeated Centennial Conference (CC) opponent McDaniel 101-80 on Friday evening. The Diplomats improved to 5-2, 3-1 CC with the win while the Green Terror fell to 3-7, 0-5 CC.
F&M had to play catch-up after McDaniel won the first event of the evening, taking the 200-yard medley relay with a time of 1:58.26. A team of Taylor Mateja, Rebecca Citti, Courtney Collins and Jackie Behr earned a second-place finish for the Diplomats at 1:58.58.
Katherine Grant took first in the 200-yard freestyle, finishing with a time of 2:00.70. Teammates Alexia Tomlinson and Charlotte Katter placed second and third respectively. Tomlinson touched the wall at 2:03.48, followed by Katter at 2:04.84.
Krista Hollingsworth picked up a win in the 50-yard freestyle with a time 25.39. Behr followed with a second-place finish and a time of 26.09.
Grant picked up her second victory of meet when she touched the wall first in the 100-yard freestyle with a time of 56.42. Katter placed third at 57.81.
In the 200-yard backstroke, Hollingsworth earned the third-straight victory for the Diplomats and her second individual win on the night when she finished first with a time of 2:13.98. Mateja placed second in the event with a time of 2:20.70.
Tomlinson picked up her first individual victory of the meet when she won the 500-yard freestyle with a time of 5:23.51. Teammate Maggie Johns earned a third-place finish in the event with a time of 5:26.69.
The Diplomats return to the pool Saturday to face off against Ursinus in CC-action. The meet is set to begin at 1:00 p.m.
