GETTYSBURG, Pa. -- Franklin & Marshall women's swimming team is just 12 points off the team lead after the first day of the Centennial Conference championship. The Diplomats picked up two bronze medals, and placed well in all five events, to earn 203 points.
Rebecca Daen, Krista Hollingsworth, Katherine DeCrosta and Ana Franzluebbers earned bronze in the 200 free relay with a 1:38.71. Jackie Behr, Alexia Tomlinson, Courtney Gregor and Charlotte Katter placed ninth.
Olivia Hill placed third in the 500 free with a 5:05.44 and Garland Bartlett took fourth with a 5:14.03. Maggie Johns finished ninth touching at 5:19.26.
DeCrosta placed fourth in the 200 IM with a 2:14.18. Laura Bassford (2:17.11), Caitlyn Fuller (2:18.61) and Courtney Gregor (2:19.66) finished 10th, 12th and 14th for the Diplomats.
Hollingsworth took fourth in the 50 free with a 24.90. She was edged by Gettysburg's Maggie Mulderrig (24.20) and Ali Roth (24.66), Bryn Mawr's Meredith Davis (24.72) and McDaniel's Emma Duesterhaus (24.73). Jackie Behr (24.96) and Daen (25.08) finished sixth and seventh while Franzluebbers took 15th.
Hollingsworth, DeCrosta, Hill and Franzluebbers teamed to place fourth in the 400 medley relay. Washington, Ursinus and Gettysburg earned medals in the event. The F&M 'B' team of Kasey Christiansen, Lili Shainis, Alexia Tomlinson and Jackie Fehr finished 10th with a 4:10.14.
Swimming begins Saturday at 10 a.m. with prelims of the 400 IM, 100 fly, 200 free, 100 breaststroke and 100 backstroke.
