HARTFORD, Conn. – The No. 13 Franklin & Marshall women's squash team fell to No. 2 Trinity by a 9-0 score on Saturday afternoon. The defeat brought the Diplomats' record to 2-4 on the year, while the Bantams remained undefeated at 3-0.
Fiona Murphy played at No. 1 for F&M but fell in her contest against Kanzy El Defrawy by an 11-6, 11-4, 11-4 score. Emily Caldwell played in a number of close games at No. 2, however came up short in an 11-9, 11-7, 11-4 defeat.
Kate O'Brien nearly captured her first game against Natalia Babjukova at No. 6 but was edged out by an 11-10 score before Babjukova wrapped up the sweep at 11-3, 11-2. Liz Gatling also battled in her matchup at No.8, but fell shy of the victory after an 11-1, 11-5, 11-8 score.
The Diplomats return to action on Friday, competing in the Amherst Round Robin. F&M opens with a doubleheader, starting with a match against Wesleyan (Conn.) at 5:00 p.m., followed by a contest against Hamilton at 7:00 p.m.
