Diplomats Tamed by Lions

NEW HAVEN, Conn. - No. 15 Franklin & Marshall fell 9-0 to No. 14 Columbia on Friday to open up a busy weekend at the Yale Round Robin. The Diplomats slip to 4-5 with the loss, while the Lions move to 1-3.

Columbia registered straight-game victories at each of the nine positions in the lineup, but several Diplomats nearly came away with wins in multiple games throughout their respective matches. No. 2 Roxanna Mead dropped a narrow 11-7, 12-10, 11-8 decision to Reyna Pacheco, while Dana Rapisarda also went neck-and-neck with her opponent in all three games at No. 9 but ultimately fell 11-7, 11-9, 11-7. 

Cris Margaret Frias nearly secured the first game of her matchup but fell to Skylar Dickey at No. 8 (12-10, 11-5, 11-6), while Katherine Perry dropped two close opening games at No. 6 to Katie Quan and eventually lost 11-9, 11-8, 11-3.

The Diplomats return to the court tomorrow to take on Bates at 2:00 p.m. and Middlebury at 7:00 p.m.
