Knapp & Gardner Named 2003 Franklin & Marshall Women's Soccer Co-Defensive Players of the Year
LANCASTER, PA -- Defenders Emily Knapp (Jr., Ellicott City, MD/Notre Dame Preparatory) and Kate Gardner (Jr., Pawley's Island, SC/Monsignor Donovan) have been named the 2003 Franklin & Marshall College Women's Soccer Co-Defensive Players of the Year.
A 2003 All-Centennial Conference first team selection following second team honors in 2002, Knapp concluded the season with four goals, including a pair of scores in Centennial Conference games, to raise her career total to nine goals for 18 points.
Overall, she anchored a Diplomats team which concluded the season ranked fourth in scoring offense (1.88), fifth in scoring defense (1.04) and fifth in shutouts (6).
A September 23 Centennial Conference Honor Roll recipient for leading the Diplomats to a statistical shutout in a 4-0 victory over College of Notre Dame of Maryland, as Franklin & Marshall did not permit a goal, shot or corner kick in the 90-minute contest, Gardner registered one goal and five assists for seven points this year.
A member of the 2003 Franklin & Marshall All-Tournament team, Gardner now has a goal and six assists for eight career points.
Franklin & Marshall concluded the 2003 season with a 7-7-3, 4-5-1 in Centennial Conference play.
