Pigott & Zambrano Lead Diplomats to 2-0 Victory over Washington in Women's Soccer

CHESTERTOWN, MD - Amanda Zambrano (Jr., Pittsburgh, PA/Fox Chapel) and Kara Pigott (Fr., Jobstown, NJ/Northern Burlington) scored first half goals to lead the Franklin & Marshall College women's soccer team to a 2-0 victory at Washington College.

The Diplomats netted the game-winning goal at the 9:23 mark as Jamie Pirko (So., Lancaster, PA/Manheim Township) dished a pass to Zambrano for a 1-0 lead. Pigott added to the Diplomats' lead 18 minutes later with an unassisted goal past Washington goalie Christine Chopp for the 2-0 victory.

In goal, Melissa Ruff (Sr., East Brunswick, NJ/East Brunswick) made one save, while Chopp stopped nine of F&M's 18 shots.

Franklin & Marshall (5-8, 2-5 Centennial Conference) will continue the season on October 20 at home versus Gettysburg College. Game time is set for 4:00 p.m.
