Zambrano Nets Game Winner as Diplomats Drop Swarthmore 1-0 OT in Women's Soccer

SWARTHMORE, PA - Forward Amanda Zambrano (Sr., Pittsburgh, PA/Fox Chapel) finished a pass from defender Kelly Cassels (Jr., Downingtown, PA/Great Valley) 1:16 into overtime as the Franklin & Marshall College women's soccer team remained perfect on the season and in the Centennial Conference with a 1-0 win at Swarthmore College.

The Diplomats (5-0, 1-0 Centennial Conference) had the better of play as Franklin & Marshall out shot the Garnet (2-5-1, 0-1 CC) 9-6, including a 4-2 advantage in the first half, while goalie Robyn Jones (Jr., Titusville, NJ/Pennington) recorded five saves to pick up her fourth win of the season.

Historically, she now has 19 shutouts in 45 career games, an average of a shutout every 2.37 starts, as she transferred to Franklin & Marshall from Division I Rutgers University prior to the season.

Overall, Jones has allowed one goal in 361 minutes of play as she has a .941 save percentage (16 saves on 17 shots on goal) and a .250 goals against average.

Historically, the Diplomats five game winning streak to open the season breaks the school record for the best start to a season as the 1985 Diplomats defeated Haverford (13-1 W), Penn State (3-2 W), Princeton (3-1 W) and Randolph-Macon (9-0 W) before falling to the University of Scranton (1-0 L) on their way to a 13-3 mark.

Franklin & Marshall (5-0, 1-0 Centennial Conference) will continue the season at Cabrini College on September 22. Game time is set for 4:30 p.m.
