YORK, PA -- Emily Sullivan fired a shot just inside the left post off an assist from Jess Neville at the 53:22 mark as the York College Spartans defeated Franklin & Marshall College 1-0 in women's soccer.
York took control of the game in the first half as the Spartans fired 12 shots while holding the Diplomats without a scoring chance in the first 45 minutes of play.
The Spartans broke through at 53:22 as Neville found Sullivan for the game-winner and her sixth goal of the season. Overall, York finished the game with a 24-5 advantage in shots.
In goal, Melissa Ruff (Sr., East Brunswick, NJ/East Brunswick) recorded 13 saves while York's Amanda Lomberg made one save to earn the victory.
Franklin & Marshall (3-1, 0-0 Centennial Conference) will return to action on September 18 at home versus Swarthmore College in the team's Centennial Conference season opener. Game time is set for noon.
