Women's Soccer Rolls Past Alvernia

Sept. 8, 2007

The Franklin & Marshall women's soccer team netted one goal in the first half and two in the second to overcome Alvernia College 3-0 on Saturday afternoon.

Sarah George scored her third goal of the season, while Amy Cawley and Brittany Easter each tallied their first goals on the year to help the Diplomats (3-0-1) post their second win this week.

Cawley started the scoring to give F&M a 1-0 lead, as she lofted a ball over the goalie's head and into the left corner of the net at the 27:59 mark. Despite seven additional attempts on goal by both teams in the first half, Cawley's was the only goal before the intermission.

With 57:57 minutes of play complete, Kelsy Tylus bounced a shot off the post, and George rebounded the ball into the far right corner to take the Diplomats up 2-0.

Finally, in a breakaway play, Easter received a through pass from Kathryn Daniels and was able to roll one past the Alvernia goalie to secure the home team's 3-0 win.

The Diplomats return to action Tuesday, September 11 against Susquehanna. Game time is 7 p.m.
