LANCASTER, PA - Franklin & Marshall College forward Amanda Zambrano (Jr., Pittsburgh, PA/Fox Chapel) has been named the September 7 Centennial Conference Women's Soccer Co-Player of the Week.
Last week she scored five goals in two games en route to being named Most Valuable player of the 2004 Law Firm of Gray, Patterson, Cody & Taylor Women's Soccer Tournament hosted by Franklin & Marshall College.
Versus Wilkes University in the opening round, she scored two goals in a 3-0 victory before scoring the first three goals of the game in a 4-1 victory over Goucher College in the title tilt.
Historically, the scores raised her career total to 27 goals in less than three seasons as she surpassed Andrea Cianfrani '98 and 1990 All-America selection Annemarie Merow '91 to move into a tie with Allison Hurley '02 for ninth on the career goals list at the College. Further, she eclipsed Kristin Purcell '92 (23 goals-seven assists-53 points) to move into sole possession of 12th place in career points as Zambrano now has 27 goals and five assists for 59 points in her career.
Franklin & Marshall (2-0, 0-0 Centennial Conference) will continue the season on September 9 versus Elizabethtown College at F&M's Baker Campus. Game time is set for 5:00 p.m.
