Zambrano Scores a Pair of Goals as Diplomats Down Goucher 5-1 in Women's Soccer

LANCASTER, PA -- Forward Amanda Zambrano (Sr., Pittsburgh, PA/Fox Chapel) scored twice in the first half and assisted Shannon Summers (Fr., North Wales, PA/Hill) in the second half to lead Franklin & Marshall College to a 5-1 victory over Goucher College in non-conference women's soccer action at Baker Field.

Historically, Zambrano moved into eighth place on the F&M career-scoring list, passing Allison Hurley '02 (27-22-76), as she has 35 goals and nine assists for 79 points.

The Gophers responded with 32:35 left in the half as Kate Miller broke away from the defense and deposited a shot into the net to pull the Gophers to within 2-1.

Franklin & Marshall padded its lead to go ahead 3-1 prior to halftime as midfielder Julie Flemming (Sr., Lancaster, PA/Penn Manor) made a leading pass past the Gophers' defense to forward Amy Cawley (Fr., Fleetwood, PA/Oley Valley) who drove in the ball.

The Diplomats increased the lead in the second frame as Brittney Easter (Fr., Haworth, NJ/Northern Valley) shook her defender with a quick move to pound the ball into the upper right corner of the net.

Summers finished the scoring with 9:26 left on the clock as Zambrano fired a free kick that ricocheted off the crossbar and to Summers who finished the play for the 5-1 final score.
