LANCASTER, Pa. - Rising seniors Athena Manolakos (Wilmington, DE / Tatnall) and Kathryn Daniels (Tolland, CT / Tolland), were recently named captains of the Franklin & Marshall women's soccer team for the 2007 season.
"I am confident we have identified the right players to lead our team," said head coach Steve O'Day. "Both Athena and Kathryn have earned the respect of their teammates and coaches alike, and their ability to lead by both word and deed make them natural fits for captaincy."
Both Manolakos and Daniels appeared in all 16 games in 2006. Daniels scored three goals and assisted on another pair, while Manolakos was credited with a pair of goals, including a game-winner, and a pair of assists. The Diplomats finished the 2006 campaign at 8-7-1 with a 3-7 mark in the Centennial Conference.
When Manolakos and Daniels lead the team out onto the field next fall, they will take their squad onto a new turf pitch. The Diplomats will play in a new lighted, all-weather facility adjacent to the Alumni Sports & Fitness Center along Harrisburg Pike.
