WESTMINSTER, Md. - Athena Manolakos factored in on both of Franklin & Marshall's goals as the Diplomats (6-3-2, 3-2 CC) took a 2-1 women's soccer decision at McDaniel (2-10, 1-3 CC) on Saturday.
Manolakos recorded the rare secondary assist inserting a corner kick in the 62nd minute that opened the game's scoring. Michelle Shea recorded the goal that made it 1-0 after Shannon Summers collected the Manolakos set, and flicked it off to her left onto the boot of Shea.
McDaniel responded quickly, drawing even in the 63rd minute when Brittany Baer defeated a Diplomat defender in a one-on-one, and proceeded to to find daylight on the left side of the net.
With just under six minutes left in the game, Manolakos punched in her second game-winning goal of the season. She was on the collecting end of a corner kick on the tally.
With the win, Franklin & Marshall improved to 6-3-2 (3-2 CC). The Diplomats return to action Wednesday evening when F&M hosts Johns Hopkins.
