Diplomats Battle Pride to Draw

LANCASTER, Pa.--Defense was the order of the day on Saturday, as Franklin & Marshall and Widener played 110 minutes of scoreless soccer in the season opener for both teams at Tylus Field.

The Diplomats (0-0-1) outshot the Pride (0-0-1) 11-4 overall, and 6-1 on goal.  Nancy Epstein led the Diplomats with four shots, three of which were on goal.  The Diplomats also held a 12-4 advantage in corners.

It was the first scoreless draw for the Diplomats since November 1, 2008 against Swarthmore.

Franklin & Marshall returns to action on Wednesday, September 7 against Alvernia.  Game time is 7 p.m.
