LANCASTER, Pa. - The Franklin & Marshall women's soccer team recorded their third straight win of the season, scoring a goal in the first half and two more in the second to defeat Susquehanna 3-0 in non-conference action on Wednesday night.
Three different players scored, including Shannon Summers and Kelsey Tylus, who registered their second goals of the season. Amy Cawley dished out two assists on the night and Danielle David netted her first goal of the year.
Goalkeeper Erin Roy only needed to make five saves on nine shots to record her second shutout and third win.
Karen Florio fired off three shots for the Crusaders (0-2-1) and Meredith Tompeck made four stops in the loss.
The Diplomats (3-0) scored early in the first half, making it a 1-0 game in the sixth minute on Tylus' low-driven shot from six yards out off a short pass from Cawley. Just 2:44 later, Cawley's header hit the crossbar for what could have been a 2-0 lead.
F&M did not find the back of the net again until the 61:50 mark when David used her speed and skill to get past Tompeck and send the ball into a wide-open net.
Summers made it 3-0 with 2:55 showing on the clock after collecting the ball from Cawley and sending low shot into the left corner.
The Diplomats held a slight 11-9 edge in shots and took five corner kicks on the evening.
F&M returns to action on Saturday at Alvernia. Game time is 1 p.m.
