Series History: F&M and York are meeting for the third time since the series started last year and the second time this season. The Diplomats are 2-0 all-time and defeated the Spartans 13-6 in the first contest of this season.
Last Game for F&M: Kimberly Abruzzo scored three goals and handed out an assist to lead No. 6 Franklin & Marshall to a 17-7 victory over Elizabethtown in the first round of the NCAA Championship.
Mary Mitchell and Caroline Krohn both finished with hat tricks while Brittney Jorgenson scored twice with an assist. Casey Madden had two helpers and tallied once, Grace Saliba scored twice and Kara Stanley along with Ali Kelly dished out one assist. Maggie Mae Shields and Christie Huidekoper each scored and Lauren Selawski netted a goal with an assist.
Stanley caused two turnovers and finished with four ground balls, Mitchell also had four pickups while Shields and Kelsey Hoffman finished with two caused turnovers each. Jen Noon had four ground balls and Krohn came away with six draws.
Hoffman went to 15-4 on the season with nine saves while Rachael Waldman turned away 15 shots for the Jays and fell to 9-6.
Last Game for York: The York College women's lacrosse team won their first-ever NCAA Tournament game on Wednesday afternoon in York. The 13-6 win over Washington & Lee didn't come easy as the Spartans had to wait through a three hour and five minute weather delay to earn the victory at Kinsley Field.
Schultz led the Spartans with six points on five goals and one assist. She also had two draw controls and a pair of caused turnovers. Mulford added four points on three goals and one assist while Wayson finished her final game at Kinsley Field with three goals. Stine contributed three points on a goal and two assists while senior Kasie White handed out a career-high tying three assists.
Senior defender Katie Vautier a game-high five ground balls while she also had a pair of caused turnovers and a draw control.
F&M in the Tourney: The Diplomats are making their 15th NCAA appearance, seventh in the last eight years, with a 20-11 record. F&M has made it to the final weekend four times and won two National Championships (2007, 2009). You can view F&M's complete postseason by clicking here.
