HAVERFORD, Pa. – Brittney Jorgenson scored five goals as No. 7 Franklin & Marshall defeated Haverford 16-7 in Centennial Conference (CC) women's lacrosse action. F&M improved 12-2, 7-0 CC while the Fords dropped to 11-4, 5-2 CC.
The game sets up Wednesday's pivotal matchup when F&M hosts No. 5 Gettysburg and the winner will earn the right to host the CC Playoffs.
Emily Everdell had four goals with an assist, Mary Mitchell found twine three times and Ali Kelly finished with two goals and an assist with Caroline Krohn handing out four assists and scoring once. Casey Madden added a score, Maggie Mae Shields notched two helpers and Grace Saliba ended with an assist.
The game was never in question as the Diplomats jumped out to an early 9-0 lead. Krohn found Jorgenson to start things off at 29:20 and the two hooked up again at 13:15 to end the run. Haverford scored two straight to make in 9-2 with 5:42 left to the break and Jorgenson answered with two of her own.
Kenny Likes found the net with 19 seconds left in the first to send the game into the break with the Diplomats leading 11-3.
Everdell made 12-3 five minutes into the second before Diana Perry scored for Haverford. F&M answered with four straight and went up 16-4 with 11:08 left and the Fords put the last three points on the board for the final.
Krohn came away with six draws while Jen Noon and Shields collected four groundballs.
Kelsey Hoffman went to 11-2 with 11 saves while Shannon Horn took the loss with three stops.
F&M collected 19 draws, outshot Haverford 35-20 and went 19-for-19 in clears.
