Diplomats Fifth in Preseason Polls

LANCASTER, Pa. – Franklin & Marshall's women's lacrosse team is ranked in the top-five in two preseason polls. Both the Lacrosse Magazine and the Women's Lacrosse Coaches Association (IWLCA) have the Diplomats ranked fifth in their respective preseason polls.
F&M returns every member from last year's Centennial Conference (CC) Championship team. Conference rival Gettysburg is ranked first in both preseason polls after winning the National Championship in 2011. TCNJ and Cortland State were picked second and third while Bowdoin and Hamilton share the fourth spot between the two polls.
The Diplomats finished last season with a 19-3 overall mark and a perfect 9-0-conference record as they won their fifth-straight, 11th overall, conference championship.
The two-time NCAA Division III National Champions have played on the NCAA's championship weekend in four out of the last five years. F&M has been to the NCAA Tournament 14 times and has produced 57 All-America honors.
F&M will face six of the top-15 teams, including the top-3, this season, No. 1 Gettysburg, No. 2 TCNJ, No. 3 Cortland State, No. 6 Salisbury and No. 13 Messiah all show up on F&M's 2012 schedule. The Diplomats open the season when F&M hosts No. 14 Washington and Lee on Mar. 3.
