Consiglio's Four-Goal Effort Leads F&M Past Bryn Mawr

BRYN MAWR, Pa. – Franklin & Marshall continued its winning ways on Saturday afternoon, getting four goals from Melanie Consiglio en route to a 4-0 rout of Bryn Mawr. The Diplomats improved to 6-2, 3-0 CC with the win while the host Owls dropped to 0-9, 0-4.

F&M got the only goal it needed in the seventh minute when Consiglio notched her first goal of the game off a feed from Sydney Cole. The goal was Consiglio's second of the season and the second assist for Cole.

A barrage of shots from the Diplomats followed, but F&M had to wait until the 19th minute for a second goal. This time Annie Horsley was the provider, notching her third assist of the season as her shot was deflected into the cage by Consiglio for her second tally of the game.

The Diplomats fired off five more shots in the remaining minutes, but at halftime the score remained 2-0. F&M owned the shot count (12-0) and corner count (5-0) at the break.

In the 40th minute Consiglio finished off her hat trick following a penalty corner. The senior forward tallied another goal via deflection, this time getting her stick on a shot from Sarah Schannauer for her third goal of the game and fourth of the season.

Consiglio rounded out her big day in the 53rd minute, taking the score to its final count of 4-0. Horsley added her second assist of the day, cracking a shot that went off of the post and right to Colnsiglio, who converted from close range for her fourth tally of the day.

Horsley's eight shots paced the F&M offense, while Consiglio took five and Cole fired off three. Schannauer's defensive save in the 60th minute, her third in two games, led the defensive effort on the day.

The Diplomats return to action on Monday at 7:00 p.m. when they make up the game with McDaniel, which was previously scheduled for Wednesday.
