No. 8 Diplomats Dispatch No. 11 Fords

HAVERFORD, Pa. - No. 8 Franklin & Marshall tallied a goal in each half to turn back No. 11 Haverford 2-0 in Centennial Conference (CC) field hockey action on Saturday afternoon. The Diplomats (10-1, 6-0 CC) have now won ten straight and have taken a stranglehold over the CC standings, while the Fords fall to 8-3, 3-2 CC.

F&M's forward tandem of Dana Venditti and Kristen Zublin each notched scores in the victory. Venditti registered her sixth goal of the season in the 30th minute off a dish from Maria Guarisco, while Zublin finished her team-leading 10th tally of the year in the 65th minute on an assist from Megan Kelly for the 2-0 final.

Haverford posted a 17-11 edge in penalty corners, but the stout F&M defense once again limited its opponents' looks at goal as the Diplomats managed to outshoot the host Fords, 15-11.

Goalkeeper Avery Koep (8-1) totaled three saves to earn the shutout win in the cage for the Diplomats, her fifth blanking of the year. Haverford's Sydney Hyder notched five stops in the defeat.

F&M returns to action on Wednesday for a non-conference matchup at Misericordia at 5:30 p.m.
