Women’s Rowing Displays Impressive Performance at Kerr Cup

PHILADELPHIA, Pa. – Franklin & Marshall's First Varsity 8+ boat secured a second-place finish in the Grand Final at Saturday's Kerr Cup on the Schuylkill River to pace a trio of strong performances from the Diplomats.

Last week, the Diplomats debuted in the USRowing/CRCA Division III Rankings, entering the poll at No. 15 in the nation. 

The First Varsity 8+ boat of Kathryn Benedetto (coxswain), Katie Benham (8), Jillian Goss-Holmes (7), Teresa Chappell (6), Sarah Nelson (5), Margaret Stoner (4), Casey Siemon (3), Leah Issokson (2) and Paige Alexander (1) won their opening heat of four competitors with a time of 7:56.47, nearly nine seconds ahead of St. Mary's, to garner a spot in the Grand Final. 

In the final, the Diplomats' A Boat placed second out of six teams with a time of 7:29.63 and ahead of Washington College, who is ranked No. 11 in the country, in third at 7:41.67.  Bryn Mawr won the race with a time of 7:21.42.

F&M's Second Varsity 8+ boat (Emilie MacDonald (coxswain), Jamie Davidow (8), Anna Kohler (7), Rachel Topper (6), Annette Von Jaglinsky (5), Helen Nelson (4), Maggie Carper (3), Rebecca McCain (2) and Katelin Dao (1)) and Third Varsity 8+ boat (Dori Coplan (coxswain), Kendra Gibbs (8), Erika Zirman (7), Kendra Gibbs (6), Julia McAleer (5), Kristen Clair (4), Sarah Stenske (3), Anna Luckiewicz (2) and Zihan Li (1)) qualified for the Petite Final with times of 8:29.85 and 9:13.13, respectively. 

In the Petite Final, the Diplomats' B Boat secured first after finishing with a time of 7:55.29, while F&M's Third Varsity 8+ boat was fourth at 8:27.31.

The Diplomats return to competition on Saturday, April 29 at the Mid-Atlantic Rowing Conference (MARC) Championships in Lewisberry.
