WEST WINDSOR, N.J. – A trio of Varsity 8+ boats took to the water for Franklin & Marshall's women's rowing team on Sunday at the Knecht Cup, with the Diplomats' top boat claiming second place on Mercer Lake.

Kathryn Benedetto (coxswain), Katie Benham (8), Jillian Goss-Holmes (7), Teresa Chappell (6), Sarah Nelson (5), Margaret Stoner (4), Milly Herz (3), Leah Issokson (2) and Paige Alexander (1) advanced to the finals as F&M's "A" boat, with a time of 7:20.30 in their opening heat. In the finals, the Diplomats fell just 8.77 seconds short of Washington College with a time of 7:13.14 to secure second out of seven boats.
F&M's Second Varsity 8+ team of Emilie MacDonald (coxswain), Jamie Davidow (8), Anna Kohler (7), Rachel Topper (6), Annette Von Jaglinsky (5), Helen Nelson (4), Maggie Carper (3), Rebecca McCain (2) and Taylor Baker (1) also advanced to the finals to place seventh with a time of 7:36.11.
A boat of Julia McAleer (coxswain), Casey Siemon (8), Erika Zirman (7), Kendra Gibbs (6), Sarah Labovitz (5), Kristen Clair (4), Katelin Dao (3), Anna Luckiewicz (2) and Zihan Li (1) also competed at the event, but were unable to reach the finals after finishing at 8:09.50 in their opening heat.
Next Saturday (April 15), the Diplomats head to Philadelphia for the Kerr Cup, marking the final regular-season regatta of 2017.
