Women’s Rowing Concludes Fall at Head of the Occoquan Regatta

FAIRFAX STATION, Va. – Franklin & Marshall's women's rowing team wrapped up the fall portion of its schedule at the Head of the Occoquan Regatta in Fairfax Station, Va. on Saturday. The Diplomats had a total of four boats compete in the event.

In the Varsity 4+ event, a team of  Kathryn Benedetto (coxswain), Jillian Goss-Holmes (4), Katie Benham (3), Sarah Nelson (2) and Jamie Davidow (1) was impressive after finishing in 11th out of 31 boats with a time of 20:18.44. Duquesne was first at 19:09.13, while the Diplomats finished ahead of teams from Cincinnati, Robert Morris, VCU, and Penn. State among others.

The Novice 4+ boat of Meredith Cooney (coxswain), Milly Herz, Katie Benham, Kristen Clair and Paige Alexander produced F&M's top finish of the day by securing third out of 22 teams with a time of 21:46.19. West Virginia was first at 20:43.28. 

A pair of boats competed for the Diplomats in the Varsity 8+ race. A team consisting of Kathryn Benedetto (coxswain), Helen Nelson (8), Anna Kohler (7), Sarah Nelson (6), Margaret Stoner (5), Jillian Goss-Holmes (4), Jamie Davidow (3), Maggie Carper (2) and Caroline Stolfi (1) led the way in 21st at 19:37.35. 

F&M's Second Varsity 8+ boat of Dori Coplan (coxswain), Katelin Dao (8), Taylor Baker (7), Lillian Silverman (6), Rosemary Osborne (5), Casey Siemon (4), Kathleen Crowell (3), Erika Zirman (2), Julia McAleer (1) was close behind in 22nd with a time of 19:53.22. 

The Diplomats return to action in the spring with the Murphy Cup in Philadelphia on March 25.
