Women’s V8 Wins Bryn Mawr Sunday

CONSHOHOCKEN, Pa. -- Franklin & Marshall's oarswomen rowed their characteristic quick start and pulled away from the competition on the Schuylkill Sunday afternoon. The Varsity 8 raced into a strong current and moderate headwind to take down Bryn Mawr and Susquehanna on a 1,500-meter course. 

The crewmembers (from bow to coxswain) were Emma Cedar, Kate Emert, Katie Winfree, Brittany George, Alex Merrick, Erin Bradley, Rebecca Weast, stroke Allie Noll and coxswain Melissa Brotschul.

The quick start allowed the Diplomats to jump into the lead, which they steadily increased over the remainder of the course. F&M finished the course in 7:29.7, 17.2 seconds in front of Bryn Mawr's crew.

The women's junior varsity 8 of (from bow to coxswain) are Dara Hesslein, Roni Setton, Meghan McGrath, Seymone Killins, Alison Ercolano, Morgan Burgess  Kelsey Harrer stroke Erin Feeney and coxswain Jan Heddens raced solidly against Bryn Mawr, but came up short by 3 seconds at the finish. F&M finished ahead of Scranton and Susquehanna.

F&M's oarswomen return to action on April 18th against Lehigh, Penn State and Lafayette.

 * this race was rowed as two events.  BMC and F&M in the first race and then Scranton and SU in the second race.  Both races were rowed over the same distance and times were deemed comparable.
