Diplomats Fall to No. 14 York

YORK, Pa. – Franklin & Marshall could not overcome a 14-point first-half deficit en route to a 67-41 loss against No. 14 York on Tuesday night in non-conference play. The Diplomats fall to 3-4 on the season, while the Spartans remain undefeated at 7-0.

The contest was close in the early going as F&M had an 8-7 lead with 16:26 left in the first. York proceeded to grab ahold of the lead and kept the Diplomats off the board for over five minutes of action with a 13-0 run to jump ahead 20-8.

F&M fought back with a 9-0 run to bring the game to within three at 20-17 with 4:31 left in the first. However the Spartans answered with their second double-digit run of the half, outscoring the Diplomats 11-0 to close out the first and send F&M into halftime with a 14-point deficit at 31-17.

York continued to pour on the points in the second, coming out of halftime with a 16-3 run to pull ahead 47-20 with 12:43 left in the game. The Diplomats made a late push to cut the deficit to 17 with 7:54 remaining off of an 11-2 run, but were unable to close the gap any further on the way to a 26-point loss.

The Spartans shot 7-of-11 from behind the arc in the first half and finished the game shooting 47.1 percent from three.  F&M turned the ball over 22 times on the evening, which led to 22 points from York.

Emma Lisle recorded her second-straight double-double, registering 12 points and 16 rebounds. Alexa Barbush paced the offense with 13 points and three assists.

The Diplomats return home on Thursday to face off against Gettysburg in Centennial Conference (CC) play.  The game is set to begin at 7:00 p.m.
