Barbush Named DIII News Preseason All-American
LANCASTER, Pa. – Alexa Barbush was named to the DIII News Preseason All-America team announced Friday. Barbush was one of three players out of the Mid-Atlantic region to earn the distinction.
At the end of last season, the senior guard was named D3Hoops.com First Team All-Region and a DIII News Fifth Team All-American. She was also named Centennial Conference (CC) Player of the Year and earned a spot on the CC First Team.
Barbush (Etters, Pa. / Trinity) led the Diplomats in points (16.2 ppg), steals (3.2 spg) and was second with 65 assists. She reached double-figures in scoring 18 times during the season, including six 20-plus point performances. As a junior, Barbush became the 13th Diplomat to reach the 1,000-point plateau.
She currently ranks second all-time in steals (261), fourth in free throws made (312), 12th in scoring (1.005) and 13th in assists (177).
The Diplomats are coming off of an 18-8 record (15-5 CC) and a trip to the CC Semifinals.
F&M opens its 2012-13 season by hosting the Lancaster Rotary-Terry Greene Memorial Tournament. The Diplomats face off against Lycoming on Saturday, Nov. 17th. Tip-off is scheduled for 3:00 p.m.
