Bell Rings up 32nd Place at Prestigous Paul Short
BETHLEHEM, Pa. – Franklin & Marshall sophomore, Ryan Bell, completed the 8k in 26:49 to race to 32nd place in a 270-runner field at the Paul Short Invitational on Friday. He led F&M to a 31st place finish. 41 teams ran in the field.
Bell’s 2008 finish marks a 90-place improvement over his effort as a frosh in 2007. He shaved 1:30 off of his time from a year ago. He crossed approximately a minute-and-a-half behind the race winner, Greg Billington, a sophomore out of Wake Forest. Ithaca took the team championship with five runners in the top 30. Four finished in the top 25.
Franklin Dekker was the only Diplomat to join Bell in the top 100. He raced to a 27:46 for 94th place. Jeff Hindes placed 195th with a time of 29:37, while Trevor Donnelly and Bryant Robinson each logged a 31:06 for 224th and 255th place. Michael Dohrmann finished three seconds and one place behind in the final standings.
The Diplomats return to action next Saturday when F&M hosts the Championship Run for the Roses, preceded by The Friends of Sarah 5k Alumni event. The day gets underway at 9:00 a.m.
