Diplomats Compete at Spiked Shoe Invitational
STATE COLLEGE, Pa - For the second time this week, sophomore Ryan Bell was the top runner Franklin & Marshall, leading the men's cross country at the Harry Groves Spiked Shoe Invitational at Penn State on Saturday.
The Diplomats, one of six Division III teams out of 14 competing squads, finished 14th with a score of 400 points. Syracuse posted a perfect score of 15, taking the top six spots to win the invitational.
Bell ran 29:19 in the 5.2 mile race for 57th overall and first on the team. Franklin Dekker was a minute, 24 seconds behind Bell with a time of 30:33 to place 74th.
Coming in third among the six F&M runners was Erik Olsen, running 30:48 to finish eight places in front of Dekker for 82nd overall.
Jeffrey Hindes crossed the line at 32 minutes flat for 92nd, while Ryan Birnbaum and Bryan Robinson paced each other to finish side-by-side with times of 33:47 and 33:50 for 95th and 96th, respectively.
The Diplomats are back in action on Saturday at the Dickinson Long Course/Short Course Invitational.
