Diplomats Head to Lock Haven For Mat-Town Open

LANCASTER, Pa. – Franklin & Marshall's wrestling team is set for its final tournament competition of November when the Diplomats travel to the Mat-Town Open, hosted by Lock Haven, this Sunday.

A Look at the Mat-Town Open: Lock Haven's annual tournament enters its 11th installment this weekend, where wrestlers from Pitt, Maryland, Bucknell, Drexel, Edinboro, Harvard, Lehigh, and Navy, among others, will converge for the all-day event. 

At last season's tournament, Robbie King secured second in the 165-pound bracket to pace a group of F&M grapplers. King earned a pair of pins, followed by a 1-0 victory against Bucknell's Joey Krulock to reach the finals. King had to settle for second place after dropping a 14-3 major decision against Edinboro's Ty Schoffstall in the championship bout.

Last Week: Anthony Mancini placed fifth, and Robbie King took sixth, to lead the Diplomats at last Sunday's Keystone Classic, hosted by Penn.

Chris Martorello picked up an 8-0 major decision against Virginia's John Reed in the 141-pound wrestle backs while Emmett LiCastri strung together two wins in the 157-pound wrestle backs, including a pin (4:25) of Harvard's Zeth Dean.

King Moving Up the Charts: Standing at 10-6 on the season after a string of successful tournament showings, King now holds a 63-55 career record, which is tied for the 16th most wins in program history. 

Season Leaders: Mancini leads the way with a 10-5 overall record, including an impressive 5-3 mark in EIWA competition. King stands at 10-6, while P. Quinlan has accumulated a 7-6 record and a team-leading five pins. Competing unattached this year on a redshirt, Pelusi holds a 6-3 overall record.
