PHILADELPHIA, Pa. – Franklin & Marshall's Logan Lewis represented the Diplomats at the 122nd Penn Relays on Saturday, competing in the college division shot put. The sophomore marked a heave of 15.92 meters to take 15th out of 42 in a field composed primarily of Division I schools.
Lewis' throw of 15.92 meters (52'-2.75") placed him 15th overall and made him the third-highest finisher among participants hailing from Division III institutions. The effort tied his outdoor career best, and fell just 4.25" short of the F&M outdoor record of 52'-7", held by Talavou Alailima '95.
Alailima previously held the indoor shot put record as well, a mark that Lewis now owns after recording a distance of 53'-9.75" at the NCAA Championships in March.
The Diplomats return to action tomorrow at the Paul Kaiser Classic, hosted by Shippensburg. The following weekend F&M heads to Dickinson for the Centennial Conference Championships, beginning on Friday, May 6 and concluding on Sunday, May 8.
