LANCASTER, PA - The Intercollegiate Tennis Association (ITA) has announced that Franklin & Marshall College men's tennis players Bryan Pilkington '05 (Lebanon, PA/Lebanon Catholic) and Ben Michelman (Jr., Severna Park, MD/Severn School) have been named 2005 ITA Scholar-Athletes.
Members of the Spring Centennial Conference Academic honor roll, the pair is among 202 Division III men's tennis players honored for holding a 3.5 grade point average for the current academic year.
This year, Michelman finished with a 3-3 singles record, including a 2-1 mark at #6, and tallied a 4-3 mark in doubles play as a sophomore.
For his career, he holds a 7-7 record in singles and doubles after finishing 4-4 in singles and 3-4 in doubles as a freshman.
Pilkington finished his senior season with a 2-1 record in singles and 3-3 in doubles as he concludes his career with a 9-10 mark in singles and 7-13 in doubles.
The governing body of collegiate tennis, the Intercollegiate Tennis Association administers a variety of programs that comprise a vital part of the world of college tennis. These programs-competitive, awards and rankings-serve 1500 collegiate tennis programs (and more than 15,000 student-athletes) in all three NCAA Divisions, as well as the NAIA and Junior College. Currently, the ITA sponsors 80 regional championships for 5,000 players, which culminate in the ITA National Intercollegiate Indoor Championships for NCAA Division I and the ITA National Small College Championships.
