Washington Defeats Franklin & Marshall 5-2 in Men's Tennis

CHESTERTOWN, MD - Washington College swept the doubles matches and recorded wins at #1, #2, #4 and #5 singles to defeat Franklin & Marshall College 5-2 in men's tennis.

For the Diplomats, Joakim Stenbeck (Fr., Westport, CT/Greens Farms) handled Mike Edison 6-3, 4-6, 11-9 at #3 and Ben Michelman (So., Severna Park, MD/Severn School) defeated Ronen Kashvin 7-6 (3), 7-5 at #6.

Asfand Farouk and Tim Riskie were 8-0 winners at #1 doubles for Washington, while Maciek Prytula and Edison posted an 8-6 win at # 2, and Arturo Solis and Kashvin were 8-3 winners at No. 3.

Solis gave the Shoremen their second point of the match with a 6-0, 6-0 win at #1 singles. Prytula held on for a 6-0, 7-5 victory at #4, winning on his fifth match point of the final game. Riskie then completed a 6-2, 6-2 win at #2 to clinch the match for the Shoremen.

Franklin & Marshall (8-5, 4-2 Centennial Conference) will continue the season on April 15 at home versus Gettysburg College. Match time is set for 3:30 p.m.
