LANCASTER, Pa. - The Franklin & Marshall men's tennis team closed its 2007 season with its second straight win, a 7-2 Centennial Conference victory over Muhlenberg. The Diplomats wrap up the year at 5-8 (4-5 CC), while Muhlenberg fell to 4-9 (2-7 CC).
Franklin & Marshall won two of the three doubles matches, and five of the six singles matches for the win. The Diplomats top player, Armen Vartan dropped the first set 3-6, but rallied with back-to-back 6-2 wins for his sixth straight win. He went 8-2 over his final ten matches of the year.
Vartan paired with Ben Michelman for an 8-1 defeat of Robbie Goldwein and Brian Wernick at first doubles. The win was the third in a row for the Diplomat duo, which closed the season with a 6-6 mark. Michelman defeated Wernick 6-4, 3-6, 6-3 at second singles.
