GETTYSBURG, Pa. – The Franklin & Marshall men's tennis team defeated Gettysburg 5-1 in Centennial Conference (CC) action on Tuesday afternoon. The Diplomats improved to 9-6, 5-3 CC, while the Bullets fell to 6-8, 0-7 CC. Due to bad weather, the match was shortened, as several singles matches were unable to be finished.
A team of Nolan Bacchieri and William MacArthur got the afternoon started for F&M with a dominant 8-0 victory at No. 1 doubles, while Doug Kaplan and Joshua Kane cruised past Mike Pratt and Kevin DeRosa 8-2 at the No. 2 doubles position.
Before the rain and lightning arrived, the Diplomats were dominant in singles action as MacArthur downed Dave Musser 6-0, 6-1 at the No. 1 position. At No. 4 singles, Kane downed DeRosa 6-1, 6-1 and Benjamin Stern was also victorious, winning 6-1, 6-1 at the No. 5 spot.
F&M returns to action Saturday for the final regular season match as the Diplomats take on Dickinson at 12:00 p.m. F&M will secure a playoff spot with a victory.
