Diplomats Compete at Shenandoah Invitational

WINCHESTER, Va. – The Franklin & Marshall men's tennis team continued its fall schedule, competing at the Shenandoah Invitational this weekend. The Diplomats faced off against Christopher Newport, Bridgewater and Shenandoah in the round robin style tournament.

The invitational format featured each team competing against one another in singles flights 1-8 and doubles flights 1-4. F&M went a perfect 10-0 against Bridgewater in singles play, 5-6 against Christopher Newport in singles and tallied a 3-0 singles mark against Shenandoah.

The Diplomats tallied seven doubles wins in the tournament, including a 3-1 mark against Bridgewater and held a 2-0 advantage over Shenandoah.

William MacArthur went 1-1 at the No. 1 singles position that included a straight-set 6-2, 6-4 victory over Brandon Larson of Bridgewater. Tommy Weibye went 2-0 at No. 2 and was followed by Joshua Kane with a perfect 3-0 mark at No. 3.

Benjamin Stern (2-0) and Hamza Pataudi (3-0) went undefeated at No. 4 and No. 5 respectively, while Parint Lertdumrikam was solid at No. 6 with a pair of victories.

A team of Pataudi and Lertdumrikam carried over their strong play into doubles action, tallying a 3-0 mark at the No. 3 position.

MacArthur and Stern combined for an 8-1 win over Bridgewater at No. 1, while Tommy Weibye and Kane took down the Eagles' Brandon Larsen and Kyle Hartfield 8-3 at No. 2.

The Diplomats return to action the weekend of Sept. 28-29, when F&M competes at the ITA South Regional Championships.
