CAMBRIDGE, Mass. – The Franklin & Marshall men's tennis team battled MIT in a 6-3 defeat on Saturday afternoon in nonconference action. The Diplomats (No. 9 Atlantic South Region) fell to 1-2, while the Engineers (No. 8 Northeast Region) remained unbeaten at 6-0.
In singles action, F&M's Ross Silverberg, who is ranked No. 8 in the Atlantic South, picked up a 3-6, 6-3, 6-4 over Edwin Zhang, who is ranked No. 15 in the Northeast. William MacArthur followed with a victory in the No. 2 position at 6-3, 3-6, 7-6 (7-2).
Doug Kaplan and Samuel Stone earned the Diplomats lone victory in doubles competition with a 9-7 win over Larry Pang and Matthew Skalak of MIT at the No. 2 spot. Silverberg and Nolan Bacchieri fought hard but eventually fell to Zhang and Curtis Wu of MIT, 9-7, at the No. 1 position.
F&M kicks off its spring break trip with a match against TCNJ on March 10th.
