Ten Headed To Day Two Finals

LANCASTER, Pa. - Franklin and Marshall sent 10 men's swimmers to the Day Two finals at the Centennial Conference (CC) Championships on Saturday morning at F&M's Kunkel Aquatic Center. The Diplomats will look to move up from fourth place in the team standings at tonight's finals.

Eric Dietrich-Peterson led the way for F&M as the Diplomats placed three in the top five spots of the 100-yard butterfly. The freshman set a school record with a time of 50.86 to take second in the event, while Richard Perry took third in 51.70 and Daniel Sanders took fifth in 51.91.

Three more Diplomats will participate in tonight's finals of the 400-yard IM, with Jonathon Sinton and Eric Lang going for gold in the A final. Sinton qualified fifth in 4:09.47, while Lang was next to touch the wall in sixth at 4:09.62. Matthew Pozmanter will swim in the B final after qualifying 14th in 4:20.29.

Timothy Gould will go for gold in the 100-yard backstroke, as his time of 52.24 was the fourth fastest in the prelims. Jack Currie will compete in the B final after taking 10th with a time of 53.95.

Ryan Caffrey led the F&M effort in the 100-yard breaststroke, earning a place in the B final after taking 10th in 59.41. Matthew Murphy is also headed to tonight's finals, finishing 14th in this morning's prelims of the 200-yard freestyle with a time of 1:45.95.

Action continues tonight at 6:00 p.m. featuring finals of the 200-yard medley relay, 400-yard IM, 100-yard butterfly, 200-yard freestyle, 100-yard breaststroke, 100-yard backstroke, and 800-yard freestyle relay.
