The Diplomats gained 467.5 points at last year's CC Championships, earning fourth place. An experienced group looks to return to the top three in the conference after taking third in 2014-15. Three freshmen enter the fold for the Diplomats, and look to make an immediate impact on a team that already boasts multiple conference champions from previous seasons.
Eric Lang – Jr.
Ryan Caffrey – Jr.
Richard Perry – Jr.
Lang returns for a third season in Lancaster after reaching the podium in the 200-yard IM in each of his first two seasons. He is poised to repeat as the champion in that event after running away from the field last year, and will be a major force in the 400-yard IM as well as the relays for F&M.
Another conference champion, Ryan Caffrey, will lead the Diplomats in his junior campaign. As a freshman, Caffrey grabbed gold in the 100-yard breaststroke, and will look to strike gold again in 2016-17 after reaching three individual finals in 2015-16.
Perry looks to build on a strong back half of last season and reach the podium for the first time after swimming in two finals of his own last year at the conference championships.
The CC Preseason Poll ranks the Diplomats fourth with 17 points. Gettysburg topped the list with 36 points and six of seven first-place votes, followed by Swarthmore in second with 31 points and one first-place nod. F&M's first opponent, Washington, landed in third with 26 points.
After this weekend's meet with Washington, the Diplomats continue CC competition the following Saturday by taking on Swarthmore in a dual meet at Bryn Mawr.
Two weeks later, F&M will be active at the F&M Invitational, which runs from Nov. 18-20. The Randolph-Macon Invite on December 2-3 will round out competition in 2016.
In the new year, home conference meets with McDaniel (Jan. 20) and Gettysburg (Feb. 4) highlight an intense conference schedule.
Postseason swimming kicks off from Feb. 17-19 as F&M hosts the Centennial Championships, with the NCAA Championships scheduled for March 15-18 in Shenandoah, Texas.
A feature to this year's schedule is the "Add to Calendar" button, which allows fans to sync new events and updates directly in their Google, Exchange, Yahoo, Outlook, ICal and additional calendars.
