AMHERST, Mass. - Franklin & Marshall's Gabriel de Melo and Guilherme de Melo each concluded their seasons on day two of the College Squash Association (CSA) Individual Championships on Saturday at Amherst. Guilherme wraps up his season at 20-4, while Gabriel completes his year at 9-12.
Both Diplomats were competing in the consolation side of the bracket after falling in the main draw on Friday. Guilherme opened the day with four-game victory over Yale's Kenneth Chan, 11-4, 9-11, 11-5, 11-6. The junior then fell to Rochester's Benjamin Fischer in three, 11-6, 11-8, 11-7.
Gabriel was defeated by Chris Callis of Princeton in straight games, 11-4, 12-10, 11-7.
Gabriel, a senior, concludes his career as one of the finest players in F&M's storied squash history. Over his four years as a Diplomat, he compiled a 50-30 (.625) record and is one of just 10 F&M players to have received multiple All-American honors (2009-10 & 2010-11).
