Franklin and Marshall Invitational Attracts World Class Draw
8 National Champions from 8 Countries to Compete in Pro Squash Tournament
Lancaster,PA - World class squash is coming to Lancaster for the Franklin and Marshall Invitational Pro Squash Tournament to be held April 8-11.
Featured players include:
- David Palmer: 2-time World Champion and Australian National Champion
- John White : Former World #1 and Scottish National Champion
- Wael El Hindi: 2008 Egyptian National Champion and World Top 10 player
- Chris Gordon: U.S. #3 ranked player and Japan Pro Squash Yokohama Champion
- Jens Schoor: German #2 ranked player and Paulaner Squash Open Champion
US Pro Squash CEO, Joe McManus, is looking forward to the tournament. "Lancaster is a vibrant community with a growing base of squash players. We are excited to be bringing world class squash to the area and to be spending some time on campus at Franklin and Marshall."
Also of note, amateur player clinics are tied in with the pro tournament. This represents a rare opportunity for local youth players to get on court with the world’s best squash players.
Franklin and Marshall has a rich tradition of excellence in the game of squash. The college named John White Director of Squash and Head Men's and Women's Squash Coach on September 5, 2007. Formerly the top-ranked player in the world, White remains a top level player. A native of Queensland, Australia and a Scottish national, White has 12 PSA tour titles to his credit since becoming a full-time professional in 1991. He broke into the top 20 in the world rankings in 1998, and climbed his way to the top of the tour, reaching number one in the world in March of 2004.
