Jan 30, 2009
LANCASTER, Pa. – The Mayser Center has not been good to Franklin & Marshall’s men’s squash team this season. #6 Rochester blanked #11 F&M 9-0 Friday night at the Diplomats’ venue. F&M (12-5) is now 0-4 in home matches this season. All of those matches have been against opponents ranked in the top ten.
The Yellowjackets swept F&M in eight of the nine scoring matches. Only the match at the second position made it to a fourth game. Rochester’s Benjamin Fischer won 3-1 (9-1, 8-10, 9-3, 9-5) over F&M’s Gabriel de Melo. In the exhibition match, Ketan Patel took Edwin Goncharuk to five, but fell 7-9 in the final frame.
The Diplomats are now 31-6 in matches against Rochester, but have dropped back-to-back meetings with the Yellowjackets.
F&M returns to action next Saturday at home against Haverford. It is the Diplomats’ last chance to pick up a home win this season.
